Jumko Ogata-Aguilar is an AfroJapanese Chicana currently pursuing her undergraduate degree in the Latin American Studies program at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). Her research focuses on race, identity, migration and the preservation of collective memory in the Mexican Caribbean, where people of African and Asian origin interacted and overlapped creating a complex and diverse cultural landscape. She has been published by Universidad Veracruzana, Vogue Mexico, Urban Ivy Co. and the British Council of Mexico.
